Based on master perfumer Maurice Roucel’s personal cologne, Uncut Gem is an unapologetically manly scent, diamond-hard and absolutely fresh. Clear, spicy top notes of ginger, bergamot, mandarin, angelica root and nutmeg lead you to the sensual fire within: a leathery accord, vetiver, frankincense, generous amounts of amber, and a musk that vibrates with the skin. This is a scent that plays with the tired codes of masculinity while extracting their telluric force to create something beautiful and irresistible.
Maurice Roucel started his career as a chemist at Chanel’s Fragrance Laboratory in 1973. A self-taught perfumer who describes himself as “an explorer wandering amidst formulas”, his style is that of a sensuous aesthete and his signature is generous composition, in which he retains only what is essential.
Prized oud wood is the star of this creation of great contrasts. A blend of aromas that brings the exquisiteness of this wood to the fore; a material as valued for its scarcity as for its long evolution process. It takes more than 75 years before the best oud resin can be extracted.

Same notes, two identities
Working the ingredient to express its full potential and meeting the challenge of composing two different eaux de parfum with the same notes: juniper berries, nutmeg, coriander, musks, ambery woods and vanilla. The Gentle Fluidity duo was born of the perfumer’s imagination to offer two distinct olfactory silhouettes, for her or for him.
In Gentle fluidity (silver), nutmeg and ambery woods are dominant and release a vibrant, comfortable trail. As for juniper berry essence, it leads to an ascending, ultra-fresh, aromatic note, similar to a “gin frappé” effect, balanced by the dry, slightly balmy, spicy notes of nutmeg. The base notes reveal ambery wood facets ranging from sweet and enveloping to powerful and dry.

L’Humaniste opens with a spicy citrus vibrant boom, supported by the aromatic facets of juniper and thyme, highlighting a surprising \\\\\\\’gin\\\\\\\’ accord. A fresh and light fragrance created by Sidonie Lancesseur.
It is to François Rabelais, the most illustrious member of the dynasty, that the house of Frapin has dedicated L’Humaniste, a fragrance as bracing and limpid as the curious, open minds of Renaissance men. Its playful ‘gin’ accord is a wink to Rabelaisian humour and to the oracle of the Divine Bottle consulted by Pantagruel.
